10 Places to Find Freelance Writing Jobs

There are many fields in which one can work as a freelancer, and writing is just one of them, and it is also the one I have chosen upon which to focus my efforts. Below is a list of links to some good places to find freelance writing gigs around the internet. This list was actually copied in its entirety from Kathryn Vercillo’s Blog “Real Words” (kathrynvercillo.com/blog).
- Freelance Writing Gigs. Deb Ng continues to be the best provider out there for daily leads on jobs. There’s a list of links up every weekday (and some weekends) as well as smaller individual posts from specific potential clients.
- About Freelance Writing. Deb Ng pointed readers in the direction of leads on this site recently which turned me on to the site. There are fewer leads here but they’re posted steadily and they are sometimes different from what you’re seeing on the other sites.
- All Freelance Writing. The same post by Deb that pointed me in the direction of About Freelance Writing also pointed me here. Same deal. Good stuff.
- Problogger. I continue to check the Problogger job leads daily for info on potential blogging jobs that may be available.
- Performancing Blogger Jobs. This one isn’t nearly as good as Problogger, but people seeking blogging work may find the occasional good lead here.
- Freelance Job Openings. Usually there are only a few leads posted here each day, but often they are ones worth pursuing.
- Online Writing Jobs. This is a comprehensive list of what’s out there. It can be overwhelming, but you can filter by the type of jobs that you want to look at (blogging, articles, books, etc.), so that makes it easier to find the work that you want.
- Absolute Write. Only a couple are posted here each day, but they are always different from what’s being advertised elsewhere.
- Media Bistro. Many of the jobs here are on-site jobs, but you can sometimes find telecommuting work.
- Journalism Jobs. Same deal as Media Bistro but often worth a look.

@Deb:
You should thank Kathryn Vercillo more than me. I got the list from her, but I’m happy to support anyone who does their homework and finds those gigs for freelance writers like myself.

Wonderful post. Deb and Anne definitely do great jobs every single day. They keep it real and are very accessible, too.
Sharon Hurley Hall’s Get Paid to Write Online is another helpful resource for freelance writers.

@ Lisa:
I agree fully on both points. I start each day with a check of both of their sites. And, I was impressed with how accessible Deb was when she promptly returned an email to me while they were in the process of changing servers. It’s easy to see why both of their sites are so popular.
